Both are running unofficial firmware, but that’s required to keep them usable. Ray's running CyanogenMod 11 (oh, the memories) by LegacyXperia team and XZ1C's running Lineage OS 17.1 by Flamefire.
Design and display. Sony brought modest changes to a formula it has been using for quite a few years on the Xperia 5 line.
